Why the Brokerage Name Doesn’t Define Your Real Estate Experience
I’ve had clients ask me, “Are you still with the same company?” after we’ve worked together for years. It’s a fair question, but it always makes me pause because the truth is, the brokerage name has never defined our working relationship.
What Actually Builds Trust
When someone hires me to help them buy or sell a home, they’re not hiring a brokerage. They’re hiring me, someone who’s going to answer their calls, walk them through every step, and genuinely care about the outcome. That relationship doesn’t change based on what’s printed on a sign or a business card.
We’ve Changed Brokerages Four Times
Since Bryan and I started this business, we’ve been part of four different brokerages. The most recent change, in 2025, wasn’t something we chose. It came from a buyout, and honestly, it’s not a company we would have picked on our own.
But here’s what I’ve noticed: not one client relationship changed because of it. The way we communicate, the way we guide people through buying or selling, the results we get for them, none of that shifted. Because that was never tied to the brokerage in the first place.
What This Means If You’re Choosing an Agent
If you’re looking for someone to help you buy or sell a home, especially here in Southern Ohio where some companies have been around for decades, it’s worth asking yourself what actually matters to you. Is it the name that’s been around the longest? Or is it the person who will actually be there for you, answering questions, negotiating on your behalf, and making sure you feel taken care of through the whole process?
For me, it’s always been about the relationship. That’s not something that changes when the sign outside the office does.
